Monday Monday
Time for me to start my real time blogging. All the stuff I haven't gotten in there, I'll add as I think of it.
Today I'm on a super high. I was so relieved when I did my publix scale weigh in. Been working really hard but knew I have extra water weight for another couple of days.
I did half of my couch to 5K plan. Worked out for 30 minutes with KP. Weighed in at 190!! Then, came home and walked 1 hour and 20 minutes.
I was so psyched from the weigh in, I had to settle, settle down. The walk did it followed by an ice cold shower. Brrrr.
A quick recap on the weight loss:
June 2012 222lbs
September 14, 2012 212lbs
October 2012 203lbs
November 2012 198lbs
December 2012 195lbs
January 7th 2013 190lbs
Whoop Whoop
I will post my starting weight for the challenge, then maybe just some loss and gain. Well, no gains, but I can't just put it out there now can I? Gonna have to keep those girls guessing. :-)
or at least paying attention at the weigh ins.
Have a healthy week y'all.

Comfort Zones
I had imagined that I would write a little more often and get this blog up to date. It's been too much to go back and remember everything and I want to start with the here and now. I do want to recall the first times I did some things that were out of my comfort zone and have helped me.
So, as my neighbors know, I might be a little nervous with dogs I don't know. For years, this has kept me from walking just anywhere. I will stop walking if there are regularly dogs running off-lesh. This has been a problem for years.
I have worked my way up to walking my entire neighborhood without fear of dogs, snakes, armadillos, or deer. Not an easy one. I also can walk, run or bike through the park close by. It's a little creepy sometimes.
Same with my biking. I wanted to ride around town but I knew I couldn't peddle fast enough to outrun any animals. In the fall, I rode my bide from Millhopper Road to 34th street. OK, for real bikers, that's not very far but I started from barely being able to ride around our short block of .5 mile.
The stadium. All this talk about doing stadiums. What in the world? One day, not knowing where to go exactly, I found a parking deck, walked to the stadium alone, and walked up and down the steps like I saw other people doing. It was a huge thing. For one, just getting out there to do anything. Parking during the daytime at UF. Trying not to look stupid among the students. Then the actual walking up. I'm also scared of heights. It made me sick to my stomach. There are all these other things involved besides just ok, getting some exercise. I did a lot of this in the fall, but have not been in a while. I need to put this back into my plan.
Swimming in a class. Yeah, so I'm not looking so hot in a swimsuit right now, or ever for that matter. I would have to actually wear a suit in front of other people. Swim with people who actually swim? I'm a fun, fin wearing mommy swimmer who wishes she could swim in a triathlon one day. Getting into the water and she might expect me to swim without fins.
These are some of the things I have worked on to get me out of my comfort zone and get my ass in gear. It's been hard.
Psyching myself up
I had seen a few pictures of the BWLC2. I watched in person as one girl shrunk each week. Once I got the awesome news that I would be in the next challenge, I started searching for information on the past challenges.
Over the last few months, I have watched every YouTube video I could find from SweatLife. I learned a lot. I was scared a lot. It's making me work harder now and try as I can to prepare my body for this awesome challenge.
I have read the SweatLife facebook page back to 2010.
This first weekend in January, I started watching last season's The Biggest Loser. Well, that's definitely made for TV, but seeing all those huge people is a motivator for what I don't want to be. I took my butt right off the couch last night and did a workout half in the house and half in the street. Pushups, situps, warm up, half burpees, more abs, lunges, jumping jacks then I went outside and walked and run in front of my house.
I really want to start the challenge in the best shape I could. When I went to my first GF class, I met a former constant that told me she wished she had been in a better place fitness wise when she started the challenge, so she could have gotten more out of the workouts. That has fueled me to work more, so I can get all I can from DTM and this challenge.
December 2012
Beginning of December 197.5. I wanted to step it up so I could start my weight loss challenge in a good place.
KP set a goal for me of 195 Dec 15th and 190 on January 15th. I smacked that with a 192. The next few weeks though, were much harder.
I was awesome through all the parties, gatherings etc. December 23rd, 193. Ok, I thought I did have a couple of extras.
The smack to me came after Christmas, when I finally relaxed. Relaxed and ate. I thought I had it all under control and then I chilled. I was training, I was attending my GF classes, so i wasn't out of control, but scared, I weighed on December 31st. I knew I had not been on my meal plan.
195 lbs December 31st. Time to get moving on this new year plan.
One of my personal "tricks" over the last two months has been to always go through the food lines last at these gatherings. Besides looking polite ;-) all the delicious fat and really tasty treats are gone. Usually left is fruit, lettuce, veggies. Well, just what I should be eating. For the most part it has worked very well.
Except that one time at hubby's Christmas work lunch, I had to sample like 5 desserts. They were so lovely. I was able to keep it under control, however, if you are trying to lose weight, the amount you should be having of these treats is 0%.
I have missed a lot of swimming this month, makes me sad. I did a really fun workout one day that was an assessment swim. But then, things got so busy and then, it was the holidays. Time for me to get going again. My swim goal was to be able to swim 500 yards without fins. That is a short triathlon distance.
I have always wanted to do a triathlon. I used to say, well, I may be 90 by the time I do it but I will. I have been busy with kids and have always thought that was when I would have the time to train and devote my time to exercise.

November 2012
October was great, I lost some weight. November got super busy. Like I wasn't already busy enough. I only met with KP one time. I had lost some pounds and I was feeling so great and so much better. People were noticing. November brings our family two birthdays, the state series swim meets, the end of marching band.
I did ok but I slacked at some point. My weight stayed pretty much the same all month. November 27th 198lbs.
The end of October, I started a swim class with Coach K. I have been swimming on and off forever. Since having kids, I always wear my fins. Cheater, cheater, but I always thought, at least I'm able to do it. If not wearing fins, I really don't move forward. This class was great, I had a swim coach. Someone to tell me what to do. I got to wear fins. Until I didn't.

Entering the Contest
About the time school was beginning to start in August, I applied for the BWLC mentors program. I thought, awesome, this will be great, school will start, I will be able to work out with a group, etc.
I didn't get in. :-( I couldn't even look at the pictures online of the girls, I was a bit sad.
Thinking, well, I'll just work on this myself. It took me that month to just say, ok, it's not working, I need help.
Then, the BIG weight loss challenge #3 deadline was here. Like as in, one day away. Somehow I had missed any info on this. The deadline was October 12th and I made it. Whew. Then, though it was impossible to wait to see if I made it.
I got a call for an interview the next week. What? An interview? I was so nervous, eekkk, what do I say.
When I arrived, I could hear the girl before me a little, not what they were saying but just laughing and some talking and like they were having so much fun. She made it, I thought.
She came out and I knew her, it was that mommy from Christian's class. I was so happy to see her and chat. She's really pretty and I was thinking, she's not even overweight, but they will probably pick her.
DTM and Nicole were so very nice. I just didn't feel like I really said anything to them to make them pick me. I was thinking, uggg I should have said more, something else.
Wait and see, wait and see.

October 2012
I am so busy all the time, but fall is almost impossible. My kids at home are 17, 14, 12, and 8. They all four are year round swimmers. This year, I have one in middle school band and one in marching band.
This is what I have going on this fall.
Rachel swims 6 days a week, 3 days before school and after, 2 days weights before school, high school swim meets in the afternoons about once a week. I am a swim official, so I try to volunteer at as many meets as I can. The year round swim team has meets about once a month on the weekend.
Spencer swims when he's not at band. Marching band was at least three days a week, then games on Friday nights. And along with this came the concession stand fundraisers at UF. Rachel and I got to work the home games, about 8 hours of standing up.
John Paul swims 6 days a week and is in band. Mostly extra meetings for mom.
Christian swims 2 days a week and I try to have friends over on Wednesday afternoons.
Swim taxi, band taxi, parent's meeting for this and that, concessions, swim meets, husband appointments, then comes the fall activities.
I was happy to see Thanksgiving.
I did my training with KP 3x in October for 30 minutes each time. I followed my meal plan as closely as I could. I learned to do some new workouts.
I use LoseIt to record my meals, workouts and weight.
September 14th I was 212
October 28th I was 199.
I have not seen that number since I really don't know how long. I was feeling so much better.
It was hard to work so hard the beginning of October and I was doing perfect and losing, but I wanted it to be immediate. Like, ok, now I'm doing the right thing, can I please just get there. I saw how long it was going to take, that is overwhelming.
I have to just go one day, sometimes, one hour at a time.
This is not easy and I have been off plan or skipped workouts. I recorded everything I did on loseit. The thing is, I gave my password to KP so he can check on me. I don't know if he has looked at it or not, but the fact that he can makes me keep my ass in gear far more than if I was just recording it for me.
My family is great, all very supportive. No one really cares though if mom ate a cookie or 10, actually did push out 12 pushups or just did 8. Or none. I needed someone just to be accountable to.
